Prairie Stream

Tales of Middle-earth Commander rare

Land — Plains Island

({T}: Add {W} or {U}.) This land enters tapped unless you control two or more basic lands.

Aragorn saw the River like a ribbon laid down to Pelargir, and beyond that was a light on the sky that spoke of the Sea. And Gandalf said: "This is your realm, and the heart of the greater realm that shall be."

Strategy & Gameplay

Prairie Stream is a dual land from the Battle for Zendikar set that provides flexible mana fixing for blue and white decks across virtually every Magic format. As a Land type card with the creature types Plains Island, it generates either white or blue mana, making it an essential tool for any strategy that requires both colors. The card's greatest strength lies in its conditional entry mechanic: it enters the battlefield tapped unless you already control two or more basic lands, which means that in the early game when you're establishing your mana base, this land comes into play untapped, allowing you to maintain tempo and cast your spells without delay. Once you've developed your board presence beyond just lands, Prairie Stream transitions seamlessly into providing efficient color fixing without eating up deck slots dedicated to basic lands. This card fits naturally into virtually every blue-white archetype imaginable, from aggressive tempo decks like Azorius Flying or Azorius Control to slower midrange strategies and even dedicated control shells that can afford to run the basic lands needed to trigger the untap clause. The format legality is exceptional, with Prairie Stream seeing play in historic, pioneer, modern, and legacy formats where dual land slots are at a premium. Whether you're building a competitive constructed deck or a casual commander list, Prairie Stream offers the kind of reliable mana fixing that enables you to cast your spells on curve while maintaining flexibility in your color requirements.
