Strategy & Gameplay

Myriad Landscape is an exceptionally versatile utility land that has become a staple in Commander and other eternal formats since its printing in Dragons of Tarkir. While it enters the battlefield tapped, making it slightly slower than basic lands in the early game, its sacrificial tutor ability more than compensates for this drawback by providing consistent mana fixing and ramp in the mid to late game. The land's flexibility lies in its ability to search for up to two basic lands that share a land type, meaning you can fetch any combination of forests and plains, islands and swamps, mountains and plains, or any other pairing, making it exceptional for multicolor decks that need reliable color fixing. This is particularly valuable in Commander, where games extend longer and the ability to fetch lands that enter tapped is far less punishing than in faster formats, and where color consistency becomes increasingly critical with larger deck sizes and more diverse mana requirements. The strategic applications of Myriad Landscape extend beyond simple mana fixing. In ramp-focused Commander decks, particularly those built around green, the land provides genuine acceleration by fetching two basic lands for just four mana and a land sacrifice. Mono-color and two-color decks benefit enormously from this effect, as it allows players to accelerate their mana production while simultaneously improving their land base consistency. Additionally, the land's basic land type flexibility makes it a necessary inclusion in decks that care about land types, including decks built around fetch mechanics or landfall synergies. Whether you're piloting a casual Commander deck or a competitive Legacy strategy, Myriad Landscape represents excellent value that helps smooth out mana curves while providing meaningful gameplay impact throughout multiple turns.
