Artifact — Equipment
Equipped creature gets +3/+2. Whenever a legendary creature you control enters, you may attach this Equipment to it. Equip {4} ({4}: Attach to target creature you control. Equip only as a sorcery.)
Hero's Blade is a powerful equipment option that excels in strategies centered around legendary creatures, making it an excellent addition to Commander decks and constructed formats alike. At just two mana for a +3/+2 boost, this artifact offers solid efficiency compared to comparable equipment pieces, providing meaningful combat stats without requiring excessive mana investment. What truly sets Hero's Blade apart is its triggered ability that automatically attaches the equipment to legendary creatures as they enter the battlefield, effectively giving you a free equip trigger when you cast your key legendary threats. This synergy is particularly valuable in legendary-focused archetypes where your gameplan already revolves around deploying powerful legendary creatures turn after turn. In Commander, Hero's Blade is especially compelling in decks built around legendary creatures as commanders, particularly in aggressive or midrange shells where the early equip cost of four mana is less relevant than the automatic attachment on future legendary plays. The card performs exceptionally well in strategies like Boros legendary aggro, Gruul stompy, or any mono-color legendary commander strategy that curves into consistent legendary creature threats. While the standard equip cost of four mana is somewhat steep, the triggered ability means you'll rarely need to pay it—your legendary creatures simply come into play already equipped. The card's format legality across Pioneer, Modern, Legacy, Vintage, Commander, Oathbreaker, and Duel Commander makes it accessible to players across multiple formats, though it finds its strongest home in Commander where the density of legendary creatures is naturally higher and the slower pace allows you to maximize the equipment's impact.
