Overseer of Vault 76

Fallout rare

Legendary Creature — Human Advisor

First Contact — Whenever Overseer of Vault 76 or another creature you control with power 3 or less enters, put a quest counter on Overseer of Vault 76. At the beginning of combat on your turn, you may remove three quest counters from among permanents you control. When you do, put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control and they gain vigilance until end of turn.

Strategy & Gameplay

Overseer of Vault 76 represents an excellent tool for white-based strategies that focus on going wide with smaller creatures or deploying multiple bodies to the battlefield. This legendary creature serves as both a reasonable body and a powerful engine that rewards you for playing the kind of creatures that white excels at producing. The first line of text creates a natural incentive to continuously deploy creatures with power 3 or less, which includes most white tokens, small utility creatures, and limited flyers that populate white's creature suite. The quest counter accumulation happens smoothly and passively, meaning you're simply rewarded for playing your normal game plan rather than needing to fundamentally restructure your deck around this card. The activated ability transforms your board presence into explosive turns by converting accumulated quest counters into meaningful combat advantages. Removing three quest counters to grant all your creatures +1/+1 and vigilance is particularly powerful in token-heavy strategies, go-wide aggressive decks, and creature-focused strategies that would already be flooding the board with small creatures. This makes the Overseer an excellent fit for white weenie strategies, token strategies using cards like Doubling Season or Parallel Lives, and any go-wide strategy in Commander that emphasizes board presence over individual creature size. The vigilance clause deserves special attention because it allows for both offensive pressure and defensive stability, letting you swing in confidently while maintaining blockers. For Commander and Legacy formats where white creature-focused strategies have legitimate competitive merit, this card provides both incremental value and explosive turns that can close out games efficiently.
