Omega, Heartless Evolution

Final Fantasy uncommon

Legendary Artifact Creature — Robot

Wave Cannon — When Omega enters, for each opponent, tap up to one target nonland permanent that opponent controls. Put X stun counters on each of those permanents and you gain X life, where X is the number of nonbasic lands you control. (If a permanent with a stun counter would become untapped, remove one from it instead.)

Strategy & Gameplay

Omega, Heartless Evolution is a powerful late-game threat that brings both defensive and offensive value to any deck leveraging green-blue mana bases. As an eight-power legendary creature with a substantial mana investment of five generic, one green, and one blue, this card demands respect when it resolves, serving as an immediate clock while simultaneously disrupting opponents' board states. The Wave Cannon ability triggers upon entry, allowing you to tap up to one target nonland permanent for each opponent you face, with the added benefit of placing stun counters on those permanents equal to your nonbasic land count while simultaneously gaining that much life. This creates a compelling incentive to build around mana bases rich with utility lands, dual lands, and other nonbasic sources, turning your mana development into a tangible advantage in both disruption and life gain. The stun counter mechanic is particularly potent, as it prevents affected permanents from untapping, effectively locking down key threats, blockers, or activated abilities for multiple turns. This makes Omega exceptional in control-oriented decks, ramp strategies, and landfall-based shells where nonbasic land density is naturally high. The card's legality across Standard, Pioneer, Modern, Legacy, Vintage, Commander, and multiple other formats ensures broad accessibility depending on your competitive or casual preferences. Whether you're building around a land-heavy control deck, a midrange strategy with mana acceleration, or a commander list centered on resource denial, Omega provides a unique combination of threat and tempo disruption that rewards strategic deck construction and lands reward you substantially for building around them.
