Sorcery
Each player sacrifices six creatures of their choice. You create six tapped 2/2 black Zombie creature tokens.

Necrotic Hex is a powerful board wipe effect that rewards you for leveraging your own creatures as a resource, making it an excellent addition to any black-focused strategy that builds around sacrifice synergies and creature tokens. At seven mana total, this sorcery demands careful planning and deck construction, but the payoff is substantial: while every player must sacrifice six creatures, you're the only one generating value in the form of six 2/2 black Zombie tokens that enter the battlefield tapped. This asymmetrical effect is particularly potent in decks built around sacrifice outlets, token generation, and graveyard strategies, where your creatures may have already provided significant value before hitting the graveyard or where you're generating tokens faster than opponents can. Necrotic Hex slots beautifully into Commander decks helmed by commanders like Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker, Rankle Master of Pranks, or Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger, where the sacrifice cost transforms from a drawback into a feature. The card also finds homes in token-heavy black strategies, zombie-themed decks, and any shell that can generate excess creatures to fuel the effect. In Legacy and Vintage, it serves as a sideboard option against token strategies and go-wide decks. While the casting cost is steep, the board presence you generate combined with the potential value from your own sacrifices makes Necrotic Hex a compelling choice for players seeking interactive, creature-based strategies that punish token strategies while advancing their own gameplan.
