Creature — Goblin Warrior
Echo {1}{R} (At the beginning of your upkeep, if this came under your control since the beginning of your last upkeep, sacrifice it unless you pay its echo cost.) When this creature enters or dies, create a 1/1 red Goblin creature token.
This unassuming two-mana goblin creature is a deceptively powerful engine that generates tremendous value in the right deck. Mogg War Marshal creates a 1/1 red goblin token both when it enters the battlefield and when it dies, essentially guaranteeing you'll generate at least two creatures from a single card investment. The echo mechanic, while appearing restrictive at first glance, actually works beautifully with the card's inherent value generation—you're happy to either pay the echo cost and continue generating tokens, or let it die and trigger the death trigger for another goblin. This makes it an exceptional fit for token-focused strategies, sacrifice-themed decks, and any archetype that rewards you for having multiple creatures on the battlefield or creatures entering and leaving play. In competitive formats, Mogg War Marshal shines in Modern goblin tribal strategies and Legacy goblin decks where it provides consistent token generation and synergy with lords like Goblin Lackey or cards that reward sacrifice outlets. The card is legal across nearly every format including Pauper, where it's a common sight in limited and constructed token strategies. For Commander players, this is a staple in goblin-focused commanders and any deck running sacrifice outlets or token synergies. The flexibility of the echo mechanic combined with dual triggers makes this card an efficient way to build board presence while maintaining card advantage and creating multiple entry points for synergistic effects with your other cards.
