Strategy & Gameplay

Model of Unity is a versatile three-mana artifact from the LTC set that combines political gameplay with mana acceleration, making it an excellent addition to decks that want to generate card advantage while maintaining color flexibility. The card's primary ability triggers whenever players finish voting, rewarding you for voting alongside your opponents and creating interesting moments where your interests align with others at the table. This voting mechanic is particularly powerful in Commander and multiplayer formats where you can negotiate and incentivize opponents to vote the same way you do, potentially allowing multiple players to scry 2 each turn cycle. The scry ability itself is deceptively strong, as filtering through your library consistently helps you find the answers you need or set up future draws, and sharing this benefit with opponents who voted with you creates a sense of table equity that encourages continued cooperation. Additionally, the tap ability provides a steady source of mana fixing by adding one mana of any color, making Model of Unity functional as a mana rock that doesn't require specific color requirements to activate. This flexibility makes it a natural fit in multicolor decks across all legal formats, from Commander strategies built around voting mechanics to Legacy and Vintage decks that need reliable mana acceleration. Whether you're playing a Temur control shell, a five-color good stuff deck, or a dedicated voting strategy in Commander, Model of Unity offers the combination of utility, card advantage, and mana fixing that makes it a strong role-player in any deck with open artifact slots.
