Lithobraking

Edge of Eternities uncommon

Instant

Create a Lander token. Then you may sacrifice an artifact. When you do, Lithobraking deals 2 damage to each creature. (A Lander token is an artifact with "{2}, {T}, Sacrifice this token: Search your library for a basic land card, put it onto the battlefield tapped, then shuffle.")

A Kav landing —Sotheran expression meaning "a bad time"

Strategy & Gameplay

Lithobraking is a versatile instant from the EOE set that bridges mana acceleration with tactical board control, making it a compelling inclusion in any red deck that values artifact synergy. The card generates a Lander token, which functions as both a utility artifact and a repeatable land-fetching engine capable of fixing mana and maintaining consistent resource generation over multiple turns. The instant speed is crucial, allowing you to respond to threats during combat or at the end of an opponent's turn, then immediately sacrifice the token or other artifacts to deal 2 damage to each creature, effectively functioning as a one-sided sweeper in the right deck composition. This makes Lithobraking particularly strong in artifact-focused strategies such as Temur Murktide, Grixis Murktide, or various Rakdos shells in formats like Pioneer and Modern where artifact payoffs are plentiful. In Commander, it finds natural homes in Jhoira decks, Goblin Welder strategies, or any artifact-heavy commander shell in red, where the Lander token provides ramp while the damage outlet addresses go-wide strategies that would otherwise slip through traditional removal. The flexibility of choosing whether to sacrifice makes it adaptable to different game states—sometimes you'll prioritize the land search for curve progression, while other times the board wipe potential becomes the primary mode. With legality across Standard, Pioneer, Modern, Legacy, Vintage, and Commander, Lithobraking offers competitive viability across multiple formats, making it an excellent pickup for players building artifact-centric strategies or looking to add efficient versatility to their red mana base.
