Strategy & Gameplay

Ironwill Forger is a powerful four-mana creature that brings serious multiplayer utility to white-based commander decks, particularly those built around aggressive go-wide strategies or commander-focused tribal synergies. This Orc Artificer's lieutenant ability activates whenever you control your commander, making it an excellent inclusion in decks where your general is consistently on the battlefield. The myriad mechanic it grants is exceptionally valuable in multiplayer formats, transforming a single attacking creature into a devastating force by creating token copies for each opponent. This effectively multiplies your combat damage across multiple opponents while turning a single creature into a threat that demands immediate removal. In three or four-player games, a modest 3/3 creature suddenly becomes an army, making Ironwill Forger particularly valuable in formats like Commander where multiplayer combat is the norm. The card synergizes exceptionally well with commanders that benefit from wide boards, such as Teysa Karlov, Rhys the Redeemed, or other token-generating strategies. Decks running creature-heavy strategies with sacrifice outlets will appreciate the temporary token copies as fodder for combo pieces or aristocrat synergies. At three mana with a reasonable body, Ironwill Forger is efficient enough to cast early while its ability scales throughout the game. The Lieutenant mechanic ensures relevance as long as your commander remains in play, and the card remains legal in Legacy, Vintage, Commander, Oathbreaker, and Duel Commander formats, making it accessible across multiple competitive and casual environments. For players seeking to amplify their combat capabilities in commander, this card offers tremendous value and combat potential.
