Inexorable Tide

Final Fantasy Commander rare

Enchantment

Whenever you cast a spell, proliferate. (Choose any number of permanents and/or players, then give each another counter of each kind already there.)

Strategy & Gameplay

Inexorable Tide is a powerful enchantment that serves as an engine piece for any deck looking to maximize counter synergies across multiple permanent types and player life totals. At five mana with a casting cost of three blue and two generic, it demands some commitment but rewards you immediately with proliferate triggers on every spell you cast afterward. This makes it particularly effective in slower, grindy matchups where you can leverage multiple turns of spell casting to incrementally advance your board position while pressuring opponents through an accumulating advantage that becomes increasingly difficult to overcome. The proliferate mechanic itself is deceptively flexible, allowing you to spread any type of counter already present on your permanents or players. This makes Inexorable Tide fit naturally into several powerful archetypes across different formats. In commander, it shines in superfriends decks packed with planeswalkers, as each spell incrementally advances your walker ultimates toward inevitability. Proliferate decks built around infect, experience counters, or charge counters find tremendous value here as well. In modern and legacy, it synergizes beautifully with fetchland shuffle effects and cards that generate multiple counters, turning each spell into exponential value generation. The card excels in formats where you can chain multiple spells together, making it especially potent in cantrip-heavy blue strategies and decks with reasonable spell density. Its legality across historic, timeless, gladiator, modern, legacy, vintage, penny, commander, oathbreaker, brawl, duel, and predh formats makes it accessible for format hoppers seeking a versatile value engine that quietly dominates through consistent, incremental advantage rather than explosive turns.
