Impulsivity

Lorwyn Eclipsed Commander rare

Creature — Elemental Incarnation

When this creature enters, you may cast target instant or sorcery card from a graveyard without paying its mana cost. If that spell would be put into a graveyard, exile it instead. Encore {7}{R}{R} ({7}{R}{R}, Exile this card from your graveyard: For each opponent, create a token copy that attacks that opponent this turn if able. They gain haste. Sacrifice them at the beginning of the next end step. Activate only as a sorcery.)

P/T: 7/5
Strategy & Gameplay

This six-mana red elemental incarnation offers tremendous value for players looking to leverage their graveyard as a resource in mid-range to control strategies. The immediate impact upon entry cannot be overstated: the ability to cast a target instant or sorcery from your graveyard without paying its mana cost effectively doubles your spell value, whether you're recasting a removal spell, a powerful modal effect, or a game-changing tempo play that was previously discarded or milled away. The exile clause prevents opponents from capitalizing on your own graveyard recursion, making this a clean, self-contained engine rather than a vulnerability. The creature itself is a respectable 7/5 body that demands removal, ensuring it's difficult for opponents to simply race past it. Beyond the immediate value, the encore ability transforms this card into a late-game powerhouse in longer formats. For seven mana plus two red, you can create multiple hasty token copies, each attacking a different opponent, which is particularly devastating in multiplayer formats like Commander where you might be facing three opponents simultaneously. This makes the card scalable and rewarding in the specific format it was designed for. Impulsivity fits naturally into graveyard-focused decks, spell-slinger strategies, and red-based control or midrange archetypes that prioritize card advantage and flexibility. Its legality across Legacy, Vintage, Commander, Oathbreaker, and Duel formats means competitive and casual players alike can build around this innovative threat that rewards intelligent sequencing and graveyard management.
