Strategy & Gameplay

Furnace Skullbomb is a versatile artifact from the ONE set that serves as both a card draw engine and a counter distribution tool for dedicated artifact and creature-based strategies. This one-mana artifact offers flexibility through two distinct activation modes, making it an excellent addition to decks that value efficiency and multiple utility functions. The first activation allows you to sacrifice the artifact and pay one generic mana to simply draw a card, providing a basic but effective way to cycle through your deck and replace itself. The second activation requires one generic and one red mana, and while it can only be used at sorcery speed, it grants the additional benefit of placing two oil counters on target artifact or creature you control before drawing a card. This dual functionality makes Furnace Skullbomb particularly attractive to red-based artifact decks, particularly in formats like Pioneer and Modern where artifact synergies are well-established. The card pairs exceptionally well with strategies that reward having artifacts enter or leave the battlefield, creatures that benefit from +1/+1 counters or oil counters specifically, and decks running other sacrifice outlets. Its pauper legality also makes it accessible to budget-conscious players building in that format. Whether you need consistent card advantage, a way to fuel graveyard strategies, or a supporting piece in a broader artifact shell, Furnace Skullbomb delivers the kind of versatile efficiency that bridges multiple gameplay phases and deck archetypes across numerous formats.
