"The world is full enough of hurts and mischances without wars to multiply them."
Frontline Medic from the LTC set is a versatile white creature that rewards aggressive strategies while providing unexpected defensive utility. This three-mana 3/3 Human Cleric fits seamlessly into tempo and aggro-focused white decks that can consistently attack with multiple creatures. The primary draw is the Battalion mechanic, which grants all your creatures indestructible until end of turn whenever you attack with Frontline Medic and at least two other creatures. This is an exceptional combat trick that transforms your army into an nearly unstoppable force, making it particularly valuable in go-wide strategies that generate multiple tokens or field wide creatures. The indestructible effect prevents both combat damage and targeted removal, letting you punch through defenders and trade favorably in combat without fear of board wipes. Beyond the Battalion ability, the creature's second mode offers surprising utility by sacrificing to counter spells with X in their mana costs, a niche but occasionally relevant effect against cards like Aetherflux Reservoir or X-based burn spells. This flexibility makes Frontline Medic an excellent inclusion in Modern and Pioneer white weenie decks, token-based strategies, and even Commander decks built around go-wide tactics. Its legality across Pioneer, Modern, Legacy, Vintage, and Commander formats provides deckbuilding flexibility for players at multiple competitive and casual levels. The combination of a reasonable mana cost, solid stats, powerful battalion trigger, and utility mode makes this an underrated gem for anyone building aggressive white strategies.
