Ferocification

Outlaws of Thunder Junction uncommon

Enchantment

At the beginning of combat on your turn, choose one — • Target creature you control gets +2/+0 until end of turn. • Target creature you control gains menace and haste until end of turn.

Strategy & Gameplay

This aggressive red enchantment provides flexible pump effects that slot seamlessly into tempo and midrange strategies across multiple formats. At just two mana, Ferocification offers excellent rate and efficiency, triggering at the beginning of combat each turn to maximize threat development and evasion potential. The modal flexibility is its greatest strength, allowing you to either push through additional damage with a +2/+0 boost or grant a creature both menace and haste for a completely different approach to combat. The haste component is particularly valuable in decks that want to apply immediate pressure, letting newly-cast creatures attack the same turn while also rewarding existing board presence. The menace option makes it exceptional in go-wide strategies where you're deploying multiple creatures, turning small threats into creatures opponents must block inefficiently. In Standard and Pioneer formats, this card fits naturally into mono-red aggressive decks, Gruul strategies, and rakdos aggro variants where the ability to grant haste pairs perfectly with creatures entering play or the pump effect closes out games quickly. Historic and Modern players will appreciate the flexibility in aggressive red decks and potential inclusion in tempo strategies. The enchantment's permanence makes it stronger in longer games compared to one-shot pump spells, and its modal nature ensures it remains relevant across different board states. Commander and Brawl players building aggressive red decks or Gruul strategies will find consistent value, especially in decks featuring multiple combat phases or creature-heavy strategies where the recurring ability compounds throughout games.
