Expand the Sphere

Phyrexia: All Will Be One uncommon

Sorcery

Look at the top six cards of your library. Put up to two land cards from among them onto the battlefield tapped and the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order. If you put fewer than two lands onto the battlefield this way, proliferate a number of times equal to the difference. (Choose any number of permanents and/or players, then give each another counter of each kind already there.)

Strategy & Gameplay

Expand the Sphere is a versatile green sorcery that serves as both a ramp spell and a synergy engine, making it an excellent addition to strategies that value land acceleration alongside counter proliferation mechanics. At three generic and one green mana, this spell provides efficient mana acceleration by tutoring up to two lands directly onto the battlefield, though they enter tapped, which tempers the explosive acceleration you might achieve with other ramp effects. What distinguishes this card is its proliferate clause that triggers when you fail to find two lands in your top six cards, offering flexibility and utility beyond simple acceleration. This makes Expand the Sphere particularly powerful in deck archetypes already built around proliferate mechanics, such as Superfriends decks that rely on planeswalker loyalty counters, infect-style strategies that benefit from poison counters, or any deck using +1/+1 counter synergies with creatures. The tutoring aspect means you maintain library quality control while fixing your mana, which is invaluable in multicolor strategies, and the random bottom-shuffling of unwanted cards adds a layer of deck manipulation that savvy players can leverage. Format-wise, this card has broad legality across Commander, Modern, Pioneer, and Legacy, where its flexibility appeals to both casual and competitive players. Whether you're building a five-color control deck that needs reliable land drops, a planeswalker-focused Commander strategy, or any proliferate-themed list, Expand the Sphere offers the utility to advance your game plan while maintaining tempo and efficiency.
