Legendary Creature — Vampire Knight

"You have learned nothing in my absence."
Elenda, Saint of Dusk is a compelling four-mana legendary creature that rewards players for gaining life, making it an excellent addition to any lifegain-focused deck strategy. This Vampire Knight combines efficiency with powerful scaling potential, starting with a respectable 4/4 base body that comes equipped with lifelink to immediately begin turning the corner on the battlefield. The hexproof from instants protection is particularly valuable, preventing opponents from using instant-speed removal to eliminate your commander or key creature at critical moments, while still allowing you to target it with your own instant-speed effects. The gameplay mechanics incentivize an aggressive lifegain gameplan: as soon as your life total exceeds your starting total, Elenda gains +1/+1 and menace, transforming into a significantly more threatening evasion threat, and this scaling continues dramatically with an additional +5/+5 boost whenever your life total is at least 10 points higher than where you started. This means Elenda can quickly grow to 10/10 or larger, becoming a format-dominating threat that's difficult to block profitably. The card fits naturally into white-black lifegain archetypes in Standard and Pioneer, where it synergizes with cards that both gain life and push damage through, while Commander and Brawl players will find it an outstanding choice for lifegain-themed decks with cards like Soul Warden, Essence Warden, and other payoffs. The broad format legality across Standard, Pioneer, Modern, Legacy, and Commander ensures accessibility regardless of your preferred competitive or casual environment.
