Drag to the Bottom is a versatile black sorcery from Dominaria United that leverages the domain mechanic to deliver scalable creature removal across multiple formats and play patterns. For just three mana, this card provides a flexible board sweeper that punishes opponents for playing creatures while rewarding you for maintaining a diverse mana base. The damage output scales significantly based on the number of basic land types you control, meaning that in a typical two or three-color deck, you're looking at dealing 3 to 4 damage to all creatures, but in five-color domain strategies, this becomes a potential one-sided board wipe for four to six mana of total investment. This makes it particularly attractive in constructed formats where mana bases support multiple colors. The card fits naturally into several archetypes across formats. In Pioneer and Modern, it works wonderfully in multicolor control decks, midrange strategies, and even some aggressive black-green shells that already want diverse basics for ramp purposes. The domain mechanic synergizes exceptionally well with any strategy playing fetch lands, dual lands, and basic lands of different types, making it a natural inclusion in three, four, and five-color decks. In Commander, particularly in multicolor shells like five-color domain generals or even two-color strategies splashing domain cards, it functions as repeatable or surprising board control. The flexibility of the effect, combined with its efficiency and the accessibility across nearly every constructed format including Historic, Modern, Pioneer, and Commander, makes this an excellent utility piece for players looking to add instant-speed control elements or battlefield parity tools to their maindeck or sideboard strategies.
