Artifact Creature — Food Alien Mutant
When this creature enters, put two +1/+1 counters on target creature. When you do, destroy up to one target creature with mana value less than or equal to the number of counters among permanents you control. {2}, {T}, Sacrifice this creature: You gain 3 life and each opponent loses 3 life.
Dimension X Pizzasaur from The Mysterious Case set is a versatile black artifact creature that offers both creature enhancement and removal potential wrapped into a single package. This four-mana investment gives you a 2/1 body with two distinct modes of value, making it an excellent inclusion in midrange black decks, aristocrat strategies, and creature-focused control shells. The primary ability triggers upon entry, allowing you to distribute two +1/+1 counters to a target creature while simultaneously destroying an opposing creature with mana value equal to or less than your total counter permanents. This creates a powerful tempo swing, particularly in decks running other counter synergies or token generators that can quickly accumulate permanents on your battlefield. The secondary activated ability provides a relevant mana sink that doubles as a life swing mechanic, turning an otherwise spent creature into a three-life swing for just three total mana and a sacrifice, which synergizes beautifully with sacrifice outlets and death-triggered effects. Pizzasaur finds homes in several competitive archetypes across multiple formats. In Commander, particularly in Golgari or Orzhov decks built around counters, sacrifice synergies, or lifegain strategies, this card provides flexible interaction that scales with your board development. In Legacy and Vintage, black-based midrange and control decks appreciate the efficiency of integrated creature removal without requiring additional cards. The card fits naturally into token strategies and decks with Doubling Season effects, where the counter doubling becomes exponentially more powerful. Even in Duel Commander where life totals matter significantly, the three-point life drain combined with creature removal makes this a compelling inclusion that rewards smart sequencing and synergy building.
