Enchantment — Aura Curse
Enchant player Whenever enchanted player is attacked, create a 2/2 black Zombie creature token. Each opponent attacking that player does the same.
Sounds of life beckon many a restless soul.
This enchantment-aura curse from the SCD set offers a clever defensive strategy by turning incoming attacks into a resource advantage. At just three mana, Curse of Disturbance provides excellent value by generating 2/2 Zombie tokens not only for you but also forcing each opponent attacking the cursed player to create tokens as well. The beauty of this card lies in its game theory application—while it might seem counterintuitive to reward attackers with tokens, the real strength emerges in multiplayer formats where multiple opponents are incentivizing each other to attack the cursed player rather than you. This makes it an excellent inclusion in Commander decks that thrive on political gameplay and token generation, particularly in black-based strategies that want to build a board presence while encouraging combat away from your own life total. The card fits naturally into zombie-focused archetypes where the tokens contribute to tribal synergies and sacrifice outlets. It also slots well into defensive black strategies that leverage creature tokens for various purposes—whether feeding into aristocrat engines, powering up cards that care about creature count, or simply building a threatening board state while redirecting aggression. In Legacy and Vintage, its limited impact is offset by its reasonable cost and the political advantage it generates in multiplayer scenarios. Format-wise, this card is legal across Legacy, Vintage, Commander, Oathbreaker, and Duel Commander, making it a versatile addition to any black mage's collection who enjoys the chess match aspect of strategic multiplayer Magic.
