Strategy & Gameplay

Bumi Bash is a versatile red sorcery from The Lost Caverns of Ixalan that offers flexible answers to different threats depending on what your deck needs most. At three generic and one red mana, this spell provides two distinct modes that make it valuable across multiple strategies and formats. The first mode leverages your mana base as a resource, dealing damage to a target creature equal to the number of lands you control, making it particularly potent in midrange and ramp-heavy decks where you're likely to have accumulated significant board presence by the time you cast it. The second mode provides unconditional land destruction or removal of land creatures, which is especially relevant in formats where nonbasic lands like dual lands and utility lands are critical to opponent strategies, or when you're facing creature-heavy decks that abuse land-based mechanics. This flexibility makes Bumi Bash an excellent inclusion in aggressive red decks, landfall strategies, and tempo-focused archetypes that benefit from both creature removal and mana denial simultaneously. The card's extensive format legality across standard, pioneer, modern, legacy, commander, and numerous other competitive and casual formats ensures that players have multiple avenues to incorporate it into their collections. Whether you're building a red aggressive strategy in pioneer, a landfall-focused commander deck in the 99, or looking for additional removal options in modern, Bumi Bash provides efficient interaction that rewards playing lands and punishes opponents who rely on nonbasic mana sources or land-based strategies.
