Break Out

Murders at Karlov Manor uncommon

Sorcery

Look at the top six cards of your library. You may reveal a creature card from among them. If that card has mana value 2 or less, you may put it onto the battlefield and it gains haste until end of turn. If you didn't put the revealed card onto the battlefield this way, put it into your hand. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.

"Hey, kiddo. Your ride's here."

Strategy & Gameplay

Break Out is a versatile green-red sorcery that offers excellent card advantage and tempo potential across multiple formats, making it a valuable addition to any deck looking to bridge the gap between mana acceleration and board presence. This two-mana spell efficiently tutors through the top six cards of your library, allowing you to either accelerate creatures onto the battlefield immediately or smooth your draws by putting non-creature cards into your hand. The key appeal lies in its flexibility: if you hit a creature with mana value two or less, you can deploy it with haste for immediate impact, creating surprise blockers or forcing your opponent to account for unexpected damage. If no suitable creature appears, you're guaranteed card draw, ensuring the spell never feels like a dead draw. The random ordering of remaining cards adds a minor element of risk management but is easily mitigated by the value generated. Break Out fits naturally into aggressive green-red strategies, midrange decks looking for creature-based synergies, and any archetype that rewards playing creatures with haste effects. The card's exceptional format legality across Standard, Pioneer, Modern, Legacy, Commander, and numerous other formats demonstrates its broad applicability and design balance. Players should strongly consider this card if they're piloting Gruul or red-green focused strategies that need early-game creatures or consistent card selection, as it essentially functions as a tutor that replaces itself while providing board interaction in a single card slot.
