Creature — Badger
Kicker {B} (You may pay an additional {B} as you cast this spell.) When this creature enters, if it was kicked, creatures you control gain menace until end of turn. (A creature with menace can't be blocked except by two or more creatures.)
Bog Badger from Dominaria United is a versatile two-mana green creature that offers excellent flexibility for aggressive and midrange strategies across multiple formats. This 3/3 body provides immediate value as a reasonably costed threat, but its real strength lies in its kicker mechanic, which allows you to pay an additional black mana when casting it to grant all your creatures menace until end of turn. This makes it particularly attractive in hybrid green-black decks or decks with good black mana access, transforming a simple beatdown creature into a combat finisher that can break through defensive walls your opponent has established. The menace ability is especially potent when you're attacking with multiple creatures, as it forces opponents to block with at least twice as many creatures, often resulting in profitable trades or forcing them to take significant damage. In Pioneer and Modern formats, Bog Badger slots naturally into aggressive Golgari or Jund strategies, where it serves as both early pressure and mid-game combat trick. For Commander players, particularly those building around token strategies, sacrifice themes, or creature-heavy strategies in Golgari colors, this card provides a cost-efficient way to push through damage while maintaining tempo. The pauper legality also makes this an interesting option for limited formats and budget-conscious players. Whether you're looking to upgrade your aggressive limited deck, need a flexible combat trick for Pioneer constructed play, or simply want a strong utility creature for your Commander 99, Bog Badger's combination of reasonable stats, flexible mana cost, and evasion-breaking ability makes it a solid addition worth considering for various strategic shells.
