Alpharael, Dreaming Acolyte is a compelling three-mana legendary creature that serves as an excellent value engine for blue-black strategies across multiple formats. The immediate card advantage on entry is significant—drawing two cards provides instant selection and options, while the conditional discard clause encourages deck building around artifact synergies rather than punishing you outright. This creates interesting deckbuilding tension and rewards players for incorporating artifact payoffs into their shells. The 2/3 body is respectable for the cost, and the ability to grant deathtouch during your turn transforms Alpharael into a surprising blocker that can trade with much larger threats or force opponents to respect combat math they might otherwise ignore.
