Artifact
When this artifact enters, search your library for a basic Plains, Swamp, or Forest card, reveal it, put it into your hand, then shuffle. {1}{W}{B}{G}, {T}, Sacrifice this artifact: Create an X/X white Spirit creature token, where X is the greatest toughness among creatures you control. Activate only as a sorcery.
Abzan Monument is a versatile mana fixer and late-game payoff that slots seamlessly into any three-color Abzan strategy across multiple formats. The front half delivers immediate value by tutoring a basic land directly to your hand when it enters the battlefield, ensuring you hit your color requirements while thinning your deck of lands and setting up future draws. This is particularly valuable in Pioneer and Modern where consistent mana bases can be challenging, and in Commander where color intensity matters significantly. The activated ability transforms the monument into a finisher that scales with your board presence, creating a creature token whose power and toughness equal your largest creature's toughness. This makes it particularly potent in strategies that emphasize creatures with high toughness values, such as Toughness-matters archetypes or decks featuring cards like Assault Formation and Doran, the Siege Tower. The sorcery speed activation prevents it from being a combat trick but allows it to work as a turn-end threat that's difficult to interact with preemptively. You'll want Abzan Monument in any Abzan-colored Commander deck seeking ramp and inevitability, in Pioneer and Modern Abzan midrange shells where it provides both fixing and a reasonable clock, and in Limited formats where the mana acceleration and creature generation justify the artifact slot. Its flexibility across Standard, Pioneer, Modern, and Commander makes it a staple utility piece that rewards players who build around its strengths while providing baseline value for any deck running all three colors.
